Over the past 10+ years of building and breaking 4Runners, we've experienced a lot of "uncommon" failures... Unfortunately a bent front skid crossmember has become much more common! In fact, it seems like we see more bent crossmembers than straight ones these days. 

The Problem: The factory skid crossmember is plenty strong enough for mall crawlers with stock skid plates, but for anyone with upgraded skids (or even stock skids that get some use) the factory crossmember is simply not going to hold up. Over time it will bend upward, making it difficult to install/remove the skid plates. Eventually it will even allow the skids to crowd your radiator and oil pan, which can lead to expensive repairs.

Will this work with my aftermarket skid plate?

YES, this HD Crossmember utilizes the same mounting hole locations as your factory crossmember and is compatible with virtually all aftermarket skid plates. The mounting holes are also equipped with pre-welded hardware to make install/removal of your skid plates easy. (On WIY units, the welder will need to tack hardware on).

If I get the WIY version, how long will it take to assemble?

Assembly is very straightforward and takes about an hour of welding.

How difficult is the HD Crossmember to install, and how long will it take?

Installation is easy, and will take 1-6 hours, depending on the experience level and vehicle condition.
